The University Library goes live with Ex Libris Alma

Late on Thursday June 20 the University Library went live with our new library management system Alma, from the leading global supplier of library management systems, ExLibris.  The Library has been working as an “early adopter” of Alma, enabling us to participate in development and testing.  Going live with Alma places us amongst the leaders in the UK in moving our systems to next-generation cloud-based solutions.

Director of Library Services & University Librarian Martin Lewis said: “This is an important moment in the continuing development and improvement of our library services.  Alma will underpin many of our operations and workflows, bringing greater efficiency and resilience, and providing a stable platform for the delivery of new services in the future. Getting to this point has required a huge team effort by many people in the University Library, and I’d like to thank them for their commitment and enthusiasm.”

Alma has replaced a number of previously separate systems, and offers an integrated approach to the management of print and digital collections, workflows to improve the efficiency of services and improved capabilities for usage and demand analysis.
