Latest version of EndNote now available

EndNote X7, the latest version of the EndNote Desktop reference management software, is now available to all students and staff on the CiCS Managed Desktop. If you can't see EndNote X7 on the managed desktop PC you're using, you may need to install it from the Software Center. This is easy to do and CiCS have produced a video to show you how. (Similarly, if the managed desktop PC you're using already has the previous version of EndNote - X5 - installed and you want to use X7, just install EndNote X7 from the Software Center as above and the software will update.)

If you've registered for the online version of EndNote, you can now sync your account with the EndNote X7 software to get access to unlimited online reference storage, thousands of bibliographic styles, and 5GB of file storage. See our EndNote Online page for details.

Remember that the Library can offer you help and support with EndNote Online, including a self-study workbook, which is available in the Information Skills Resource. For general help and advice with EndNote, we recommend the Thomson Reuters EndNote Community Forum. It's also worth checking the Thomson Reuters EndNote knowledgebase for answers to your questions.

Landmap seek alternative funding

Landmap, the geospatial datasets service, faces an uncertain future following recent funding changes. JISC funding will maintain Landmap until the end of December 2013, which includes helpdesk and workshop support as well as access to datasets and updates to e-learning content.

From 1 January 2014 to 31 July 2014 Landmap datasets and e-learning content will remain online but with no helpdesk support or updates to content. If you plan to use a Landmap dataset for your undergraduate or postgraduate dissertation, Landmap are advising that you get the data you need before 31 July 2014 as data availability can't be guaranteed after that.

JISC and MIMAS are currently looking for alternative funding. See JISC Funding Cut – Update for New Academic Year 2013/14 for more information or follow @Landmap on Twitter for the latest news.
